Following in the footsteps of AMIT alumna Nili Block , 8th-grade AMIT student Michael Yohananov just won a European Thai boxing competition in Romania, taking the top spot in his age and weight category.

Yohananov, a student at AMIT Karmiel Junior and Senior High School, competed against contenders from across Europe at the Judgement Day—World Cup 2018 tournament held in Romania. He is planning on competing at the world championship scheduled to take place this year in Thailand.

Michael’s teachers describe him as a pleasant and easygoing young man who works hard and is determined to achieve great things in his sport and at school. He is also active on the school’s student council.

“I was very excited ahead of the competition, but I approached it with the confidence that nothing stands in the way of will,” said Michael. “And, thank G-d, I succeeded. Now I hope to succeed in the next tournament as well, the world competition.”

AMIT Karmiel’s principal, Guy Dekel, said, “We are proud of Michael for his dedication to his training, his studies, and his activities in the student council, and we are confident that he will succeed in the future.”

Michael trains at the Pegasus gym in Karmiel with coach Ohad Kurland.
