Students from AMIT Mekif Bet Ashdod are taking part in a new cyber security class, which got underway last week with a special meeting with the CEO of Kernelios, a firm that helps train the future leaders of Israel’s cyber security front lines.
Twenty 11th-graders are taking part in the course, which comprises 150 hours of cyber studies. Students will be exposed to a range of topics and methods of defense and attack in the cyber world, and practice using tools that simulate what happens in the real world of cyber security.
The CEO of Kernelios, Yossi Cohen Arazi, told the students about his company and how it was founded and gave them an introduction to the cyber concepts they will be studying throughout the year.
The course is a joint project of the Education Ministry, Israel’s National Cyber Directorate, and Taasiyeda, a nonprofit organization that promotes the development of leadership and technology skills in children.
“Last year, our student Zehava Defrasha was named the No. 1 cyber student in the country and paved the way for her friends at school to succeed in this unique track,” said Sima Peretz, the school’s principal. “This course opens the door for them to the forefront of Israel’s defense system — cyber warfare.”
