A team of students from AMIT Bellows Ulpanat Noga in Beit Shemesh won the AMIT national research competition, which was held last week at the Science Museum in Jerusalem. AMIT students from all over the country participated in the competition which focused on science and contribution to the community. They presented a variety of research projects to the AMIT Science Excellence team led by Dr. Rachela Turgeman, Dr. Dafna Ben Yosef, and Drora Gops.
The AMIT Bellows Ulpanat Noga team chose to study the effect of volume on the vibration of the eardrum using advanced digital tools – an app using a decibel meter and video recording. The judges were very impressed by their work and awarded them first place in the national competition. A team from AMIT Kennedy Jr. and Sr. High School in Acco won second place for their research on the how magnetization affects drinking water. Third place was won by AMIT Ulpanat Givat Shmuel for their investigation of the effect of Ritalin on the heartbeat rate.
Iris Eliyaho, principal at AMIT Bellows Ulpanat Noga commented, “During the course of their research work, the students demonstrated many skills that are necessary for today’s scientist in addition to scientific thinking and knowledge – cooperation, teamwork and creativity.”
