AMIT Israel Spotlight Session #2: AMIT’s Community of Co-Ed and Secular Schools – Bridging Divides, Building Community

Dozens of students from AMIT Renanim Science and Technology Junior and Senior High School donated their hair for cancer patients as a tribute to an Israeli teenager who was killed by a bomb during the summer.

Students from AMIT HaOfek Technological High School joined activists around the world to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women with a campaign aimed at raising awareness about gender-based violence.

Recently, some AMIT students got to put that philosophy into action by attending the Israel Conference on Social Cohesion, a daylong summit aimed at fostering greater inclusion for all sectors and groups in Israeli society.

Students at AMIT Ulpana High School for Girls got a chance to learn exactly what makes a heroine when they welcomed Avital Sharansky for a visit and discussion about women’s empowerment, a subject that Sharansky, a leading figure in the movement to free Jews, including her husband Natan Sharansky, from Soviet imprisonment, knows quite a bit about.

How high can you fly? As high as your dreams take you. That was the message that students at AMIT Shachar Junior and Senior High School recently got from Aisha Bowe, the American aeronautical engineer and the founder and CEO of technology company, STEMBoard, who told them to reach for the stars.

V., who is currently serving in the IDF’s elite Duvdevan commando unit, credits his recently becoming an officer in the army to a meeting he had in 12th grade while at Yeshivat AMIT Eliraz in Petach Tikva.
