One of the core tenets of an AMIT education is embracing Klal Yisrael.

Recently, some AMIT students got to put that philosophy into action by attending the Israel Conference on Social Cohesion, a daylong summit aimed at fostering greater inclusion for all sectors and groups in Israeli society.

Students from the AMIT Mr. & Mrs. Lester Sutker Art and Sciences Jr. and Sr. High School for Boys represented the National Religious Education Administration (Hemed) at the conference. The conference featured Israeli lawmakers Benny Gantz, Ayelet Shaked, and Moshe Gafni, as well as Jewish Agency Chairman Isaac Herzog, Israel’s Consul General in New York, Dani Dayan, and other dignitaries and leading journalists.

The second summit of its kind was sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) with the goal of envisioning what Israeli society will look like by the year 2048.  society has grown increasingly polarized in recent years, as President Reuven Rivlin has warned numerous times, and the conference aimed to shine a spotlight on creating a shared society in Israel.

The AMIT students attended various panels discussions and met with Knesset members and other notable figures. They asked questions and participated in discussions on pressing topics about Israeli society.

Among its core values, AMIT schools pride themselves on being inclusive and accepting of students from various backgrounds. This is among the hallmarks that help define AMIT schools, making them unique and creating community.

“Taking part in this conference will prepare the students for life as citizens who can influence Israel’s agenda in the future,” said Principal Lior Halevi.
