Veteran Anchorman Visits AMIT Kfar Ganim

Veteran news anchorman and television presenter Yaakov Eilon recently visited the media and film track at AMIT Kfar Ganim Yeshiva High School in Petach Tikva. During a session with students, Eilon reported on Israeli media trends and the impact social media have on public discourse. He talked about his passion for media that started at the age of 14 and invited students with a love of the field to start making their way in the world of communications now. Eilon was impressed with the students’ understanding of the complexity of free press in a democratic society. The students, who asked Eilon pointed questions, wanted to understand whether media creates reality or reports it, whether Israeli media is objective, and other weighty issues.

“We believe in realizing the talents and potential of each and every student,” said Rabbi Hagai Gross, principal of AMIT Kfar Ganim. “Meeting with professionals like Yaakov Eilon helps students pursue their aspirations and find their path in life.”
