Theater Arts – To Be or Not To Be

AMIT Ashdod Arts and Science Ulpanit High School for Girls created a wonderful opportunity for 27 10th graders majoring in Theater Arts, through a partnership with the local, well-regarded and highly professional Ashdod Performing Arts Center.

Through this partnership, the girls are exposed to all aspects of theater and play production, including screenwriting, sound, lighting, production, etc. They get a behind-the-scenes tour and experience with professionals in each area, for two hours each week (following all Covid guidelines, of course – divided into capsules), and learn in-depth about each specific aspect of production.

When the theater re-opens for shows, post-pandemic, the girls will be invited to join all scheduled shows and will be able to attend the prep meetings for each show, with the professionals who gave them sessions in the various aspects, thus seeing how what they learned plays out in real life. In partnership with the Performing Arts Center, AMIT students created a film raising awareness to the fact that the world of culture is currently silenced because of the pandemic. The film’s theme, “To Be or Not To Be,” juxtaposes regular times (To Be) with pandemic times (Not To Be).
