The New Year at AMIT: Growth, Renewal, and Innovation

The new school year is always a special time in the AMIT family—a time of fresh beginnings, new opportunities, and renewed commitment to our students.

Named Israel’s #1 educational network for seven years in a row, the AMIT Network reports exciting developments that reflect our mission to provide an innovative, values-driven education to every child in our care.

But the new school year also comes with unique challenges. AMIT still has principals and teachers serving in the reserves because the war is not over yet. There is tension in the country about the right way forward and a serious rift between those who think the hostages should be returned at all costs and those who think Hamas must be defeated at all costs. The situation affects everything—mood, staffing, budget—but AMIT’s messaging is continuously resilient and emotionally supportive, sustaining our students and staff throughout these difficult days.

Upgrades and Renovations

This summer, the AMIT Network worked tirelessly to ensure that schools were ready to welcome students on September 1. Thirty-nine schools underwent renovations and upgrades—refreshing classrooms, bathrooms, and outdoor learning spaces for more inviting and functional environments.

More serious renovations were necessary at the Dina and Moses Dyckman Ulpanat AMIT, which was hit with a missile that struck Soroka Hospital during the recent war with Iran. Thankfully, school was not in session and no one was injured, but the network took the opportunity to make substantial upgrades while repairing the damage.

Several schools also moved into improved facilities this year, including Midreshet Be’er in Ashdod for post-army women, AMIT Technological High School in Ashdod, and AMIT Bellows Ulpanat Noga High School.

Welcoming New Schools

AMIT is proud to add three new schools to its network this year, reflecting the trust that municipalities place in AMIT to deliver quality education rooted in values, innovation, and excellence:

  1. Ulpanat Hineni, Kiryat Malachi: A girls Torani (more religious) school expected to grow steadily to two full classes per grade.
  2. Ulpanat Rav Shauli, Ashdod: Expanding AMIT’s presence in Ashdod, this boys’ school has 250 students.
  3. Science Education High School, Rehovot: This thriving school with 1,600 students is AMIT’s second secular HS in Rehovot, and second largest school in the network.

Launching the Learning Management System

Piloted for the past two years in 20 schools, AMIT is now rolling out its innovative Learning Management System (LMS) across all seventh grades network wide. Developed to support AMIT’s Learning Gateways model, the LMS gives students the freedom to choose from three different learning styles to best fit their needs. While every student studies core subjects such as history, Tanach, mathematics, and English, they can now choose how they engage with the material.

The Encounter Gateway: structured, teacher-led instruction in a collaborative classroom environment. This suits students who thrive in guided-learning environments and benefit from direct interaction with teachers and peers.

The Independence Gateway: self-directed, digital-based learning, allowing students to move at their own pace. Ideal for students who prefer working independently, require flexibility, and seek personalized learning tailored to their needs and interests.

The Discovery Gateway: inquiry- and project-based learning, in which students take ownership of their process. Encouraging curiosity, creative thinking, problem-solving, and research skills, students self-regulate and take responsibility for their education.

The essence of חנוך לנער על פי דרכו, educate each child in their own way, the LMS facilitates students’ learning with AI-driven, real-time data that helps educators tailor the learning experience for each student.

It integrates every part of a student’s journey—goal setting, progress tracking, learning plans, assessments, and skill-building—into one cohesive platform. It also manages essential technical details such as attendance, scores, and student performance, creating a comprehensive system with no equivalent anywhere in the world.

After years of careful development, it is exciting to see the LMS fully implemented, bringing AMIT’s vision of personalized, holistic education to life and marking the beginning of a new era in learning.

AMIT President Shari Safra said, “We welcome our students back to the classroom with hope for a year of growth and fulfillment. We are excited for them to connect with our new LMS and watch their learning soar.”

Now at 91 schools and 42,900 students, the AMIT Network is a poised to be a decisive voice in the future of education in Israel, leading with vision and innovation.
