A Summer of Learning at AMIT Givat Shumel

Ulpanat AMIT Givat Shumel students are devoting part of their summer vacation to learning something new, including self-defense and first aid. The school’s administration, along with the student council, created a rich offering of special summer courses, social gatherings and workshops for its junior high school students. Last week, over 60 students participated in a 20-hour first aid course and acquired the basic skills needed to assist in cases of injury. About 30 students also participated in a self-defense course, in which they learned how to set boundaries; improve their self-esteem and body image; and deal with harassment and assaults using effective verbal and physical techniques. In addition, students met weekly for a Summer Beit Midrash program with school faculty and guest speakers. On the eve of Tisha B’Av, the school held a study session and Book of Lamentations reading for the girls and women of Givat Shmuel.
