Students from the AMIT Gwen Straus school for boys recently met with Avi Blasberger, director-general of the Israel Space Agency, to get his feedback on their research project for a national robotics competition.
The robotics students are taking part in the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) competition, in which they had to study a topic related to space research. With the guidance of their teacher, the students are studying the feasibility of using phytoplankton for oxygen production in space.
They initiated the meeting with Blasberger to get his take on their work and he helped them figure out how to proceed with their research.
“We enjoy learning and making progress in the space exploration program and hope to succeed in the competition,” said one student named Itay.
“We are proud of the students in the robotics program for their initiative, independent work, and determination to advance in the field of robotics and space exploration,” said Yaron Carmi, the head of Gwen Straus’ law and society track. “We are confident they will succeed in their research and throughout the competition.”
