To mark International Women’s Day, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin welcomed outstanding female students from across Israel to a special event, in which each girl portrayed a government “minister” whose portfolio suited her interests.
Among the student leaders selected to take part was Etti Sahlo, a 12th-grader at AMIT Yud Ashdod, who was appointed health minister for the event. Etti, an excellent student who has dreamed of working in medicine since childhood, has been volunteering with Magen David Adom for three years. She has completed multiple first-aid courses and has even become a mentor and coordinator of youth training in her hometown.
Etti aims to perform national service as a paramedic with Magen David Adom, after which she aspires to become a doctor.
After presenting herself and her goals as “health minister,”President Rivlin told Etti she is one of the best ministers he has met.
Moti Arbel, principal of Amit Yud Ashdod, said, “We are proud of Etti, who sets an example at school and symbolizes the combination of educational excellence and significant contribution to society and the community.”
