Orly Malessa was awarded for her leadership role in the Bnei Akiva youth movement, and Yarden Gihessi won for her role in the municipal youth council and her dedication to the city’s teens. The two were selected by a Department of Culture, Youth and Sport committee in the municipality. The committee selected the winners on the basis of duration of volunteer activities and contribution to the community. Orly and Jordan each won a cash prize and certificate of appreciation, awarded by Ashkelon Mayor Itamar Shimoni.

“The students brought great honor to the school and are exemplary models of the values we instill at school,” said AMIT Bet Ashkelon principal, Yehuda Cohen. “Our students are engaged in a multitude of community service initiatives throughout the city and are much appreciated in Ashkelon.”
