As part of the international project ‘Names and Numbers’, students from the 10th and 11th grades of the Amit Nachshon Yeshiva traveled this week to interview four Holocaust survivors, in order to create a documentary about the students and their survivors and encounters.

The meeting with the Holocaust survivors, which took place after a meeting with a journalist, researching the characters and writing questions – was significant, fascinating and very touching for the students who returned with a lot of insights and thoughts.

One of the survivors – the great-great-grandmother of the student Yahel Karni was very excited and talked about the continuity of generations and optimism in every situation.

Holocaust survivor R. Eliezer Gutdiner told the students: “Every grandchild and great-grandchild born to me I go to my parents to say good luck to them and continue to grow. I ask you. Pass on the message – tell us the story for future generations. “

Or Edri, an 11th grade student participating in the program: “My message to the younger generation, go to your grandparents and hear the story from them, even if they were not in the Holocaust, each with his own story and pain – we are the generation who were privileged to be here in Israel at the time of redemption.”

Student Afik Shoshan added: “From this day I have taken many messages, one of which is in life not to complain about anything and always be optimistic, even in the most difficult moments.”
Rabbi Noam Krigman, Rosh Yeshivat Amit Nachshon: “For such things I am in education. This is the best way to educate ourselves and our students – to get to know and connect with great people who have lived and worked in such a wonderful and exciting generation of Holocaust and revival. We are proud of our students for the care, sensitivity and dedication they show towards the Holocaust survivors. “
