Yan Movshowitz, a student at the AMIT Wasserman Junior and Senior High School, Beer Sheva, is the first place winner in the Ministry of Education’s Physics Olympics competition for 10th graders, Religious Division.

Students from schools in the state religious educational division all over Israel participate in the competition. Movshowitz’s combined score for the various assignments won him the highest honors. Movshowitz, an outstanding student in many subjects, also participates in the Odyssey program at Ben-Gurion University, which was developed to promote scientific and technological talents, building a new generation of inventors and scientists in Israel.

Yan’s homeroom teacher, Avital Weiss, says that Yan likes to face academic challenges. “It was very important for him to participate in the Physics Olympics and he did it on his own initiative together with another student in the class. Despite technical difficulties he insisted on competing and also managed to win.”

In response to the win, Yan Movshowitz said: “I am happy to have won and would like to thank my physics teacher, Clara Soklik, who accompanies me in my progress and learning.”

Tzuriel Robbins, principal of AMIT Wasserman, said: “We are proud of Yan for this impressive achievement. This is a student who proves that perseverance leads to success.”
