Students from AMIT Kennedy Junior and Senior High School won second place in the international Rube Goldberg Machine Contest and received a special message from Education Minister Naftali Bennett congratulating them on their achievement.

“You have brought great pride to the State of Israel,” Bennett said. “I am proud of you. I believe in you, and you can be proud of yourselves. You proved that when you make an effort, there is no limit to what you can achieve.”

The AMIT Kennedy team reached the international competition after placing second in the national competition, which included dozens of teams from across Israel. AMIT Kiryat Malachi students took the top spot in that contest.

For this year’s Rube Goldberg competition, students had to build a creative machine that achieved two goals: demonstrating at least four scientific principles, such as mechanics, momentum, optics, electric motors, chemistry, and heat; and using those scientific principles to pour a bowl of cereal.

The AMIT Kennedy team created a machine that reflected Israel’s 70 years of innovation and its space program.

After the national competition, Etti Zabary, principal of AMIT Kennedy, praised teachers Ora Eisenberg, Tzvika Leibowitz and the school’s physics team. The students’ success “proved that there is no goal they cannot attain.”
