Zameret Kaniel, a participant of Carmel 6000, a high-tech based national service in partnership with AMIT, won a bronze medal at the 4th International Olympiad of the Metropolises which took place last weekend in Moscow.
Forty-five municipal delegations from around the world participated in this science competition. Zameret served as part of the Jerusalem delegation, the only municipality representing Israel in the competition. The team was comprised of eight students and alumni from Pelech High School in Jerusalem.
The Jerusalem delegation stood out as the only all girls team amongst many boys team from around the world. After outperforming the other teams by exceling with high scores, Zameret returned to Israel with the bronze medal in the math category.
Zameret who graduated high school with a joint-major in physics and computer science, recently began her national service at Carmel 6000, a social high-tech program in partnership with AMIT where top students innovate and develop solutions for needs in the nonprofit sector, education and special education.

Upon her return from the Olympiad, Zamaret said, “I am grateful for this opportunity, to compete in an industry I love along with other like-minded youth from around the world. It was a challenging and enjoyable experience. I’m excited to begin my national service at Carmel 6000 and am looking forward to a meaningful and interesting service. It brings me joy to give back to society by way of technology and through innovation and creativity which interests me.”
