The AMIT Sutker Modi’in “Young Entrepeneur” team won third place last week in the international entrepreneurship competition in Belgium. At the competition, they presented their product (an experiential tablecloth called “pick-nic”) to a crowd of hundreds, and set up a sales and information booth. Of the 37 teams from all over Europe, the AMIT Modi’in team was awarded third place after the judges examined their research and development methods, problem solving, teamwork, advertising, marketing and sales. The AMIT team was the youngest team in the competition -while the rest of the contestants were between the ages of 17-20, members of the AMIT team are all aged 15.
One of the competing teams was a team from Turkey. The boys tell of their positive interactions with the Turkish team and how that team was the first to come shake their hands and congratulate them on winning. The team from Estonia won first place for the development of a trash can that recycles organic waste. Sweden won second place with a dressing room designed to encourage respect between genders.
Harel Granot, AMIT Modiin student and the team’s production manager commented: “The moment of victory was an exciting and surprising moment. There were many groups with excellent technological products and high budgets, but because of our teamwork and presentation, we succeeded in surpassing them.”
His friend Yarin Moses, the team’s CFO, adds: “To hear your country’s name being read and everyone applauding – it was so exciting”.
