AMIT Students Win Third Place in Globe International Competition

A team of students from the AMIT Kennedy Jr. and Sr. High School in Acco won third place in the Globe international competition for environmental and sustainability research. The Globe program is a unique program that aims to involve students in gathering data from the scientific community around the world in order to better understand global phenomena. Teams from 4,000 schools from 123 countries worldwide entered the competition.

The AMIT Acco students, led by their physics teachers, presented a scientific research project on the production of “green” electricity from the earth. The findings of the study show that by creating current circuits using the natural electrical conductivity of 1/4 of an acre of soil, one can produce a high-efficiency electricity of over 5000 amperes.

Their research work impressed the judges of the international competition, earning them third place in the world.

Eti Zabari, Principal of AMIT Acco, congratulated the students and their teachers on the achievement: “The students have reached a very high level of scientific research and writing, demonstrating cooperation and joint research efforts.”
