AMIT students unveil app for disability inclusion nonprofit

AMIT students taking part in the Academy of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Gogya center recently unveiled the app they developed for a nonprofit organization that works to integrate people with disabilities into Israeli society.

The 9th-graders created an app called “Invento” with aim of helping the nonprofit called Etgarim keep track of its sports equipment and make its use more efficient and organized. Etgarim (“challenges” in Hebrew) runs several sports clubs throughout Israel, each of which has its own storage facility and equipment.

Every trainer who removes equipment for an activity has to log that in that app, noting what he took, when it was returned, and if there were any issues.

The students from AMIT Gwen Straus Jr. and Sr. Science High School for Boys, in Ra’anana, who developed the app presented it to Etgarim’s management and trainers and launched the pilot phase.

Etgarim has already begun using the app and reported significant improvement in their activities and in the maintenance of their equipment.

The nonprofit organization was founded in 1995 by a group of Israel Defense Forces veterans, Israeli civilians with disabilities, and rehabilitation professionals. It works to empower and integrate adults and children with disabilities through outdoor sports like cycling, running, hiking, and kayaking.
