Students from AMIT Ramle Technological High School who have been volunteering at a senior center recently held a festive birthday party for 10 of the center’s “regulars.”

The students have spent a great deal of time volunteering at the center over the last three years, celebrating holidays with the senior citizens and staying in touch with them. They decided to organize a special birthday party and bought cakes and other refreshments, balloons and candles to share with all of the visitors to the center in honor of their friends’ birthdays.

They sang songs and danced and then sat down for a special thought-provoking game with their friends at the center. The seniors passed around a cube whose sides had different questions on them, such as “what do you wish for this year?” and “what do you wish for the young generation in Israel?” The discussion that arose created a unique rapport and even deeper connection between the participants.

The special birthday party for the Ramle seniors is part of what AMIT prides itself on when imparting values to its students, and that is, to give back to the community, to care for the most vulnerable among us such as the elderly, and to create opportunities to do chesed, acts of kindness, at every opportunity.

Itai Aharoni, the principal of AMIT Ramle, praised the students for their beautiful initiative. “We at AMIT Ramle believe that the most important lesson is giving back to the community,”
