Yitzhak Fatana, a 14-year-old AMIT student, won first place at an international wrestling championship held recently in Russia.

Fatana attends AMIT Hammer in Rehovot, along with two of his brothers, Yaakov and Moshe, who are also wrestling champions in their age and weight categories.

At the competition in Russia, Fatana proudly stood on the podium wearing his kippah when he accepted his gold medal. He said that he is proud to represent Israel and the Jewish people.

His principal, Rabbi Rafi Maimon, said he was equally proud of Yitzhak for displaying his faith so fearlessly around the world.

“We are proud of Yitzhak for his dedication to training and learning,” said Maimon.

Last year, Yaakov Fatana came in third place at a youth wrestling tournament in the Netherlands, where young wrestlers from 20 countries from all over the world competed. He also stepped onto the podium donning his kippah and holding an Israeli flag.
