These are some strange and crazy times going on in the world right now.
Sometimes it feels as if we’re in a movie.
Who would have thought there would be a time when hanging out with your friends is forbbiden? Or that it’s okay to go out of the house, but only within a 100-meter radius or less? Who would have thought that a short trip to the grocery store would be a complicated mission that requires wearing protective equipment such as gloves and a face mask? When the greatest minds are working to find a cure for an elusive virus that spreads all over the world?
Are we sure this is not just a movie?
This has been an especially challenging time for my family. Not long before the “coronavirus situation” exploded, my father’s leg was seriously injured during a ski holiday at the Hermon, and last week, he went through his second surgery.
This requires me and my sisters to be more dedicated to helping with whatever he needs and helping my mom with the household. I’m trying to do it, although I find myself feeling I could do better.
Also, did I mention cleaning for Pesach?
Passover holiday is coming, and I can’t help thinking this is all some sort of a “Yetziat Mitzrayim” (Leaving Egypt) for us. I mean, it could have happened anytime. Why now? Why right before Pesach?
Every year we hear that same phrase that each individual should see himself as if he participated in Yetziat Mitzrayim. I never related to that more than now, and I pray that not long after Pesach we will all be liberated from our Mitzrayim (or at least from quarantine).
