AMIT Rallies to Help Fire Victims

Upon realizing the scope of the damage caused by wildfires raging throughout Israel, AMIT Network students, faculty and administration set out to offer relief and assistance in a numerous ways. AMIT established a hub for matching offers of assistance with citizens who had to evacuate their homes – or lost their homes – due to the fires. Within a few short hours, Moti Arbel, principal of AMIT Sderot Religious High School and head of AMIT’s fire relief effort, fielded hundreds of offers of assistance to provide accommodation, supplies and other help to those affected by the fire. AMIT Acco students arrived in Haifa a few hours before Shabbat and set up a refreshment stand for firefighters and police. Students from Yeshivat AMIT Netivot Dror in Or Akiva collected dozens of boxes of clothing for residents of Zichron Yaacov whose property and possessions were damaged. AMIT Sutker Modiin High School students went to their local fire station to express their gratitude to the firefighters.

“Am Yisrael’s greatness is revealed once again,” said Dr. Amnon Eldar, Director General of the AMIT Network, noting the immediate mobilization for the victims of the fire. “We at AMIT will continue to monitor the changing needs of the victims and provide help.”
