Members of the mediation team at Yeshivat AMIT Nachshon, Mateh Yehuda, were the representatives of religious education at the National Mediation Conference held at Tel Aviv University. The annual conference, involving dozens of high school students and mediators from across the country, was attended by retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Israel Dalia Dorner; public officials from the Jewish and Arab sectors; and members of the media.
Ten students from AMIT Nachshon, who have taken a local council sponsored course and practice mediation at school, took part in the conference, during which they met with teen mediators from other schools in Israel and discussed how to raise public awareness about the importance of mediation. At the conference, the AMIT students were invited to share their insights as young mediators and demonstrate to other participants how the mediation process has become significant and central to their school community.
“We are raising our students to be the leaders of tomorrow,” said Rabbi Noam Krigman, principal of AMIT Nachshon. “Owing to mediation training, students will become leaders who value tolerance and know the importance of open and effective communication.”
