Tal Shavit, the science coordinator at AMIT Hatzor HaGlilit Jr. & Sr. High School won the outstanding teacher award sponsored by World ORT Kadima Mada and the Ministry of Education. Of the dozens of teachers considered from throughout Israel, four science teachers were selected to receive the award and a cash prize. Tal Shavit won first place!
The award ceremony was held at the Weizmann Institute of Science, with representatives from the Ministry of Education and universities throughout the country. According to the judges, Ms. Shavit was selected for this national honors due to her devotion to her students and her innovative science teaching methods. In addition, she initiated a number of collaborative projects with nearby Tel Hai College, including a program in which college students mentor AMIT Hatzor students.
“Beyond her pedagogical and scientific excellence, Tal has genuine love for her students and cares about them as individuals,” said Avihai Golan, principal of AMIT Hatzor. “Tal proves that Hatzor has outstanding young people who dream big and who can achieve on a national level with teachers who believe in them.”
