For the second year in a row, students from AMIT HaOfek Technological High School came in second place at an annual competition held at Tel Aviv University for students majoring in electronic engineering, computers, or control and energy systems.
The team from AMIT HaOfek in Or Akiva designed a control system to monitor the various stages of ice cream production. They beat 170 other teams from across Israel to take the No. 2 spot.
Michael Brandsky, the students’ mentor for the project, has taught children in the school’s electricity track for five years in a row. “What is unique about this year’s project is that it features numerous motors, different mechanisms, and a range of sensors,” he said. “The computerized system enables us to oversee the production processes and modify them as needed.”
The students, Maxim Prilotzky, Gregory Ulpir, Nikita Gorbonov, and David Yurkowsky presented their invention at the tournament, where they received certificates of excellence from the Education Ministry’s science and technology administration as well as a cash prize.
Miriam Shabtai, the school’s principal, said that over the past five years, AMIT HaOfek students have reached new heights. “I want to congratulate the students and their teacher, Michael Brandsky, for exhibiting creativity, successful teamwork, and determination. It proves that our educational approach allows us to achieve impressive feats.”
