A graduate of AMIT Ginsburg Bar Ilan Gush Dan, Ramat Gan, was one of the recent graduating cadets of the Israel Air Force’s flight academy course. The IAF flight course is considered one of the most prestigious courses in the IDF. Gradates complete three years of grueling training, in addition to a Bachelor’s Degree from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, in order to become pilots. Only 13% of cadets who started the course graduated last month. After their training, pilots serve in the military for nine years.

Only a lucky few are invited to the graduation ceremony at Hatzerim Airbase, and AMIT Gush Dan teacher Danny Nikritin was among them. T. (the IAF does not disclose the identities of its pilots), the AMIT graduate and new pilot who invited his teacher, was a gifted student in high school and completed his degree in mathematics and computer science during the flight course. Danny Nikritin, taught T. for three years in high school and has kept in close touch with him since. During the flight course, Nikritin was also invited to take part in a Teacher Day event, to which cadets invited the teachers who had influenced them the most.

Nikritin was touched to receive an invitation to the ceremony by T. and to see his former student receive his officer insignia and pilot wings and officially become an IAF pilot. “I am grateful that it has been my destiny to be a part of the lives of T. and his classmates,” said Nikritin.

Tomer Shufer, principal of AMIT Ginsburg Bar Ilan Gush Dan: “We are proud of the strong bond between T. and his teacher Danny Nikritin who helped T. pave the way for pilot training, and we congratulate T. on his achievement and his choice to so significantly serve his country.”
