This week the Israel Ministry of Education posted results of bagrut (matriculation) achievements in high schools across the country. AMIT Evelyn Schreiber Junior and Senior High School for Girls was excited to share that 94% of their students completed their bagrut requirements this school year, thereby making the AMIT school the top school in the city of Tzfat.

The school, which received the prestigious Ministry of Education prize for educational excellence in 2015, underwent a transformation in the last couple of years and is now achieving at this high bagrut rate with 50% of the students studying at the highest levels in English and Math.

Over 13% of the students are recognized by the Ministry of Education as elite students, exceeding the national average of 8%. Among the AMIT students who excel in participation in national science programs are 12th grade student Adi Peret who was recently selected as the top participant in the national youth pre-law program and her classmates Oshrat Hania and Perachel Israel who reached the national finals of the Young Scientist and Developers in Israel competition.

This 94% bagrut achievement far exceeds the national average of 70%. It’s even more impressive since the school is a non-selective institution that is open to any student interested in studying there, regardless of their academic abilities.

Tracks in the school include physics, chemistry, biology, movie production and communications, law, pre-med and early childhood education.

This year, the school inaugurated a new learning wing designed to meet pedagogical architectural standards which enables students to pursue cutting-edge 21st century studies including self-study and working in groups. Students participate in the Community of Women Learning Initiative, the core concept from which the school was developed.

In addition to academics, 100% of the students completed their social responsibility bagrut, fulfilling the Ministry of Education’s core requirement for volunteering and contribution to society.

School principal Yaffa Shemesh is proud of her students’ success. “Our students’ success is a result of our amazing staff who do not give up on any student and ensures that each student finds and reaches their individual potential.” She emphasized that the school places the responsibility on staff for the students’ success, not just academically, but for instilling Jewish values and finding their own personal path and development.

Tzfat Mayor and Chairman of the Educational Department Shuki Ohana praised the AMIT school “Congratulation to the AMIT students, the teaching staff and administration for the amazing transformation the school has undergone over the last few years. In addition to the academic bagrut success, more importantly their contributions to society is most impressive. I am extremely proud of the AMIT students.”
