Tzipi Nir, Director of the Dance and Movement track at Midreshet AMIT Arts and Sciences High School for Girls in Modi’in was awarded the Uri Orbach National Prize for Jewish Culture by the Israel Minister of Education at a ceremony held at the Jerusalem Theater.
The Israel Minister of Education, Rabbi Rafi Peretz, presented Tzipi with the prize in the dance category.
Tzipi Nir is a dancer and choreographer and leads a female dance troupe composed of women from diverse backgrounds, ranging from religious to secular. Nir performs on stages across the country and globe with her unique renditions of performances.
In addition to her work as choreographer, Nir leads the Dance and Movement track at the AMIT Girls High School in Modi’in, through which she instills the essence of her dance language as an educational tool to help connect the art of dance to striving for excellence, both personally and on a global level, and connecting body and soul in these young dancers.
The award committee chose to present this prize to Tzipi Nir in the dance category for her unique contribution in the field of Jewish dance in Israel, creating a religious experience from both ancient Jewish world and the contemporary dance world, and connecting universal values to the various communities that make up Israeli society.
