Three outstanding 11th-grade students from AMIT Bar Ilan High School in Petach Tikva—Koren Misgav, Uri Yonatan, and Roi Madar—are headed to Basel, Switzerland, to represent their city and Israel at the World Zionist Jewish Youth Congress as part of the prestigious “Young Ambassadors” program.
The talented trio has already made their mark nationally. Last year, they won the competition to design a new banknote for the State of Israel.
The Congress in Basel carries deep historical meaning. Youth from around the world will gather to draft a “Youth Charter” focused on Jewish and Zionist identity, the bond between Israel and the Diaspora, Zionism, and tradition, while also addressing the challenge of global antisemitism. The initiative is supported by Israel’s Ministry of Education, Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Ministry of Absorption, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Jewish Agency, and other national partners. Upon their return, the students are expected to lead a project aimed at strengthening ties between Israel and Jewish communities worldwide.
Rabbi Rafael Ish Shalom, head of the upper school, expressed his pride: “We were thrilled to hear about Uri, Roi, and Koren being chosen for this important role in Switzerland. They excel academically, but also shine as leaders in social and values-based initiatives for Israeli society and the State of Israel. This broad model of excellence, encompassing so many fields, brings us great pride.”
