Last week, three students from AMIT Bar Ilan Netanya won an innovative technology award granted by the Ness Technology leadership program for high school students. The three students, Ari Bakush, Yochai Simchoni, and Shlomi Morad, developed a device which aims to address the problem of communication between autistic children and their parents. The device has a camera that tracks the movements of the child and deciphers them as well as a thermometer which measures the child’s body temperature. Using this information, the device is able to identify the child’s mental and emotional state at any given time. This information is sent to an app which the parents can use to provide the best and most efficient care for their children’s needs.
Rabbi Yuval Elimelech, principal of AMIT Bar Ilan commented that “Through their revolutionary invention, the students demonstrated first-rate science and technology capabilities, but even more importantly, they have shown that even in the 21st century which is characterized by innovations and inventions, there is room for the heart and the belief that we are all equal and we must work to help others.”
