Or Akiva R&D Team Wins Educational Innovation Hackathon
The pedagogical R&D team from Ulpanat AMIT Or Akiva won an educational innovation hackathon run by the Education Ministry last week.
Seventy teams from across Israel took part in the competition, with each one presenting its initiative for future-oriented learning. The AMIT team, led by R&D coordinator Shlomit Illouz, presented the concept it has been working on to tailor university-level courses to students in the 9th and 10th grades.
Working in cooperation with Tel Aviv University, the team adapted various courses for online learning for high school students.
Successful completion of an online class would enable the students to earn credits toward their undergraduate degree and bonus points on their entrance exams. Students who successfully complete three such online classes would also be able to bypass the psychometric exam.
“The R&D team at the ulpana devotes nights and days to the students in order to enable each one to fulfill her academic potential,” said Bilhah Bousi, the school’s principal.
