Adiel Rosen, Ravid Amrani, and Meir Neubirt advanced to the national finals of OlympiDATA, Israel’s nationwide competition in information and data analysis. The contest challenges students to make sense of large, complex data sets and uncover patterns under real time pressure.
In the semifinal round, the task was deceptively simple. They were presented with a massive Excel file, no instructions, no shortcuts – just data. Using the analytical tools they had learned in their Information and Data studies track, along with sharp intuition and teamwork, the students began to break the puzzle apart. Piece by piece, meaning emerged. And with it, a place in the national finals.
Their teacher, Ariela Hershushanim, who leads the information and data track, watched the process closely. “What stood out most was their motivation,” she said. “They weren’t just applying material they had learned. They were thinking creatively, asking new questions, and enjoying the process of discovery.”
In a world shaped by data, these students are learning how to look beneath the surface to understand what the numbers are really saying.
