On the 73rd Independence Day of the State of Israel, Yoav Rosenblatt, a graduate of the Amit Bar-Ilan Gush Dan School, received the “Outstanding Presidential Medal” from the President of the State of Israel, Reuven Rivlin.
The reasons for the victory state that Sgt. Yoav Rosenblatt, a paramedic in the 71st Battalion in the 188th Brigade, is a lone soldier. His father serves as Israel’s ambassador to Angola in Africa and his entire family. Still lives there. He immigrated to Israel alone a few years ago, studied in the seventh grade of the Amit Bar Ilan School and then in the pre-military preparatory school “Kol-Ami” in the Jerusalem area, and the second year in Ein Prat. On Nov. 18 he enlisted to be a military paramedic, took a course, was on duty and instructed in the 36th Division, and has now been in the Armored Regiment for several months.
In response to the win, Rosenblatt said: “It is a great privilege to be elected and to be worthy of this honorable status. The ceremony was very exciting for me. Although I am a lone soldier because my family is in Angola, I won and my father was able to come and attend the ceremony. I hope that I can continue to give and contribute as much as I can to the medical system in the battalion and in the IDF so that the level will always be the highest and the soldiers will receive the best treatment we can give.
“I came to Amit Bar Ilan High School in the tenth grade, after a long period abroad,” he notes. “I arrived at the school with the help of a ‘new immigrant’, and this is the opportunity for me to thank the teachers, the management and my good classmates who made my landing in Israel softer and helped me integrate into Israeli society.”
Tomer Shofer, principal of the Amit Bar Ilan Gush Dan school: Yoav came to us in the middle of his school years from a mission abroad and in a short time he was able to integrate, there is no doubt that his ability to integrate and excel in a short time is admirable in the army. We are very proud and happy about the election of Yoav as Outstanding President for the year 1951.
