The Minister of Education’s prize for volunteerism and social activism in Israel’s southern region was given to Ravid H., a 12th grade student at AMIT Kiryat Malachi. Ravid is chairman of the school’s student council and the city-wide student council. She also serves as the CEO of a company, through which she developed the All Mall application, an app to improve the user experience at malls, through a joint initiative with UniStream.

Ravid is also a madricha (mentor) for 8th grade students. For two years, she volunteered at the organization “Krembo Wings” for children with disabilities and coordinated the tutor-family initiative. She received an award from AMIT for social activism and has received excellence awards in both volunteerism and academics in the past.

“Through your volunteer work you serve as a role model, and I am sure that the values you have internalized will serve as inspiration as you continue on your path,” wrote Itzik Ross, the Ministry of Education’s Director of Society and Youth in the Southern Region. “I hope that these actions are what impacts your near and far environs.”

Ravid was grateful for the prize, and said, “volunteering allows me to give of myself, from my time and my abilities, in order to help others and contribute to society, bringing me tremendous joy and satisfaction. I believe that every good deed, no matter how small, can bring about a tremendous contribution. We must believe in hard work and putting in effort and will then hopefully see results.”

Aviad Gabai, Principal of AMIT Kiryat Malachi, exclaimed, “Ravid stands out for her significant involvement in her class and in society at large. At the beginning of the year, she produced various events, including decorating the entire school, giving out packages to students, producing school shirts and running various events. Her activism continues throughout the year, running class mornings and evenings, parties and workshops. At the same time, Ravid also supports students academically, doing this on her own time. The school’s educational team is so happy to see Ravid’s social involvement and investment, where the sky is the limit, and alongside this, the fact that Ravid places a tremendous focus on her studies. She takes 5-point level English, math and biology Bagrut classes. Ravid’s amazing activism and spirit of volunteerism come from her home, and we are confident that she will continue to contribute in the future as well. Our school encourages social activism and educates our students to be active, initiate, and always look for ways to help others. In the past two years, 100% of our students have been involved with social activism. Many of our students are involved with Mada, the local fire department, and many other causes. We are proud of Ravid and hope that she will be a symbol and role model for many other students.”
