How does one mark the yahrzeit of a mother and her four daughters who were murdered 16 years ago in a terror attack when the hundreds who have gathered year after year in their memory cannot do so this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic?
By doing one good deed in the merit of Tali Chatuel, z”l, and daughters Hila, z”l, Hadar, z”l, Roni, z”l, and Merav, z”l, and sharing that good deed with the world.
This coming Tuesday, May 5, 2020, 11 Iyar, marks the 16th yahrzeit of Tali, z”l, and her daughters, who were killed by terrorists on the Kissufim Road on their way from Gush Katif to Ashkelon.
That horrific attack shook all of Israel to its core.
It hit the AMIT family especially hard and personally.
Tali’s, z”l, husband, David Chatuel, works for the Ministry of Education’s Religious Education Department, but for several years was the principal at AMIT Daisy Berman Yeshiva High School in Beer Sheva. Tali’s, z”l, sister, Orit Kaufman, is currently the principal at AMIT Ashdod Arts and Science Ulpanit High School for Girls.
For the past 16 years, the family has held memorial services where more than 500 people attended. But because of this year’s restrictions on public gatherings and social distancing, the family will only be able to have 19 people at the cemetery, the maximum number allowed by the Health Ministry because of the current situation.
To not feel so alone in their difficult time, during this difficult year, the family started a “good deed” initiative, “One for All.” They have asked that people all over Israel and the United States do one good deed in the merit of Tali Chatuel, z”l, and daughters Hila, z”l, Hadar, z”l, Roni, z”l, and Merav, z”l, and share that good deed.
In this virtual, but very real way, when the family returns from the cemetery on their yahrzeit on Tuesday, May 5 they will be surrounded by support, love and community.
We ask you please do a good deed right away in their merit.
May the memory of Tali, z”l, Hila, z”l, Hadar, z”l, Roni, z”l, and Merav, z”l, be a blessing.
