Students from the Dina and Moses Dyckman Ulpanat AMIT in Beersheva won second place at the regional contest for young entrepreneurs and are advancing to the national competition.
The middle school–age girls are taking part in the Young Entrepreneurs Doing Business project, in which they learn about the business world and develop entrepreneurial thinking and skills.
They worked with a mentor from school and students from nearby Ben-Gurion University to establish a company called Queens and develop an environmentally friendly reusable bag. The stylish pouch is easy to clean, and its interior is stain-resistant and can be wiped down.
The girls impressed the judges with their presentation, earning a ticket to the national competition where they will compete against students from across Israel.
They follow in the footsteps of other AMIT students who have taken part in this contest (sponsored by El Al), including the team from the Mr. and Mrs. Lester Sutker AMIT Modi’in School for Boys. They won third place at the global young entrepreneurs’ competition two years ago with their environmentally friendly tablecloth that doubles as a trash bag.
