Toward the end of the school year, tenth-grade students at AMIT Kiryat Malachi Jr. and Sr. High School completed a special course that led by engineers at HP (Hewlett Packard). For their final meeting, the students visited HP Israel’s Indigo division in Kiryat Gat, which focuses on digital printing solutions.
They saw firsthand everything they learned about throughout the year and got to watch the various stages of the digital printing process.
During the special course (offered by the nonprofit Shiur Acher, which means “different lesson” in Hebrew), the students took part in workshops led by HP employees on subjects including careers in engineering, game theory, leadership, public speaking, decision-making, and 3D printing.
This was the first time the engineers from HP took an integral part in the program, volunteering on a weekly basis with the students in an effort to enrich their knowledge and serve as a model for civic involvement and contribution to Israeli society.
Yoel Yom-Tov, the AMIT Kiryat Malachi teacher who oversaw the program for the school, said, “Exposing the students to the worlds of high-tech and engineering from a young age gives them motivation to succeed. I heard the feedback from my students and understood that this project did indeed succeed.”
