Students at Ulpanat AMIT Lehava took part in a special visit with one of the country’s leading scientists this week.

Dr. Bracha Halaf, chief scientist at Israel’s Ministry of National Infrastructure, Energy and Water Resources, met with some 9th-graders from the school in Kedumim. She described her personal journey through the ranks of the scientific world, from high school through her current research.

Halaf explained recent developments in research into using natural gas for electricity and sanitation purposes. She also told them about the great satisfaction she has derived from her work in the sciences and encouraged the girls to pursue scientific subjects that interest them.

Rabbi Efraim Zik, head of the ulpana, said the school “places great importance on exposing its students to the stories of scientists in diverse fields. This encourages them toward excellence by introducing them to female models of success in the sciences.”
