Students from the AMIT Hallel Junior and Senior High School for Girls recently won a regional competition focused on EdTech, or education technology, and has advanced to the national round.

The AMIT students, Lior Guez, Amit Va’adi, Noa Eshel and Lia Glickstein, developed an app called “Mentor,” which is designed to help students organize their learning tasks starting in junior high. It’s like a personal trainer for school work.

The competition, called Hack70, is a hackathon aimed at getting students to develop innovative education technology to mark Israel’s 70th Independence Day. The contest is organized by the Education Ministry’s information and communication technology department.

Thirty teams from central Israel competed at the regional stage.

The AMIT Hallel team impressed the judges with their invention and advanced to the national competition, set to take place in May. The winners will get funding to help develop their innovation.

Miri Gil, the girls’ principal, said “We are proud of the students’ achievement, and of their unique invention that can help every student. We are especially proud of their cooperation and team work, and we wish them the best of luck for the rest of the competition.”
