The AMIT Kamah Yerucham robotics team won first place at the FIRST Tech Challenge preliminary national competition. In this competition teams are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to play a floor game (http://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/ftc/what-is-first-tech-challenge). Last week 25 robotics teams from across the country participated in the preliminary national FTC competition. The AMIT Kamah team won the highest rating in the competition for programming and operating a robot that is able to perform a number of tasks, including collecting balls, climbing a mountain, and defending against competing robots. The preliminary competition was a friendly match with the emphasis on cooperation between the teams. The AMIT Kamah team will continue to train for the national competition to be held next month, hoping to win it too and represent Israel in the international competition. The team is mentored by volunteers, including the engineer Dr. Avinoam Doron, a father of two girls at AMIT Kamah Yerucham.
Shula Levy, principal of AMIT Kamah congratulated her students and wished them success in the next national competition. “Our aim is for each student to fulfill her potential, with an emphasis on social values and contributing to society, all of which are embodied in the robotics program,” said the principal.
