The science excellence class at Yeshivat AMIT Eliraz, Petach Tikva, embarked on a unique study tour to investigate the connection between Torah, science and contemporary life. Accompanied by their teacher, students traveled to The Hebrew University in Jerusalem and met with Nobel Laureate Professor Yisrael Aumann who told them about his research using game theory to analyze Talmudic dilemmas. Prof. Aumann answered the students’ many questions and was impressed by their analytic abilities and grasp of complicated concepts. Additional destinations that day included the Hebrew Language Academy, where students learned how the Academy preserves the language of the Bible in modern Hebrew; and Zomet Institute, a research institute dedicated to merging Halachic Judaism and modern life.

“Our science excellence class provides diverse enrichment programs and leadership development for students who are focused on science and math,” said Rabbi Yair Chetboun, principal of AMIT Eliraz, “and we encourage academic excellence through critical thinking and intellectual curiosity.”
