Seven AMIT educators were recently recognized as “teachers of the century” by the Education Ministry’s religious education administration. Each of the seven were lauded for the devotion to their students, for their professionalism, for being key individuals who contribute to the schools where they work and to the students they nurture and teach.

The seven include: Ilanit Yemini from AMIT Gwen Straus Jr. & Sr. Science High School for Boys; Rabbi Amit Orenbuch from AMIT Sderot Religious Jr. & Sr. High School; Ariella Elkayam from AMIT Bellows Ulpanat Noga; Shimon Hillel from AMIT Wasserman Jr. & Sr. High School; Aharon Rigler from AMIT Kennedy Jr. & Sr. High School in Acco; Sarit Zoldan from AMIT Ma’ale Adumim Jr. & Sr. High School for Boys; and Rabbi Nitzan Berger from Yeshivat AMIT Kfar Ganim.

The AMIT educators were given awards of excellence and appreciation at a special ceremony this week.

The ceremony brought together 100 inspiring and trailblazing teachers, preschool teachers, educators, and educational staff members whose educational work was found to be unique and outstanding.

The ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Education Minister Naftali Bennett and Dr. Avraham Lifshitz, head of the ministry’s religious education administration.

“It has been said that society is measured by its weakest link, and we would like to add that a society is also measured, among other things, by its pioneering leaders,” said Lifshitz at the ceremony.

The AMIT teachers who received the awards were praised for various traits, including promoting project-based learning in their schools; teaching their students to strive for excellence while living Torah values; forging deeper connections between the students and the school staff; encouraging students to express themselves artistically and to fulfill their fullest potential; and customizing learning for each student and helping them incorporate values into their daily life.
