A Warm Welcome: After 110 days of service, AMIT Fred Kahane homeroom teacher Mula Malada completed his reserve duty and returned to school. The entire school warmly and excitedly welcomed him back, red carpet and all.

Side by side with the excitement and gratitude for their safe return, returning to civilian life after fighting in a war for four months also comes with challenges both at home and at work. Many are asking themselves whether their roles are meaningful and are having a hard time getting back into routine, managing post-war trauma. The IDF provides soldiers and reservists with opportunities to process what they’ve been through immediately prior to their release (our very own Chagai Vigoda is a facilitator of these discussions), but most workplaces don’t provide support for reservists or their spouses.
AMIT is unique, always focusing on the holistic picture of each person as an individual, recognizing the role we can play in easing the transition into civilian life. To this end, we are creating groups of belonging for principals, headquarters professionals, and wives of reservists. Each group will have special lectures geared towards them on Zoom, along with designated WhatsApp groups moderated by Tatzam professionals. Chagai and the Tatzam team are also working with our principals on providing a supportive environment for their teachers who are now slowly returning to school, and they are also training the Malats and helping them with tools and skills that can be useful at this complicated time.

This past Shabbat, the Reshet ran a weekend in Eilat for principals and their spouses who served in the war with programming and accompaniment by Chagai.
As an educational network that prides itself on values-based education and contribution to society at large, I think we can be proud of the fact that we are supporting our principals and headquarters professionals as well as their spouses during this time, and know we are exhibiting life lessons to our students across the Reshet.
