March is Women’s History Month, a perfect opportunity to pay tribute to Bessie Gotsfeld, the founder of American Mizrachi Women, now known as AMIT. Gotsfeld and all of the women who helped her build AMIT from the ground up made it their goal to help nurture and educate children in Israel, which the organization has been doing since 1925. Today, AMIT gives 34,000 children, largely from the periphery, the best Jewish values–based education, and continues to maintain the bridges Gotsfeld built between those children and American Jews. Thanks to Bessie Gotsfeld, Israeli children have greater opportunities in school and in life, and they make Israel and the world better places.
