B’Levav Shalem’s reputation speaks for itself. For the past two years, 100% of the students have earned a full bagrut certificate. Families are even moving to Yerucham from central Israel to improve their sons’ odds of studying here, while strengthening the town’s population in the process.
B’Levav Shalem leads the schools in southern Israel in the percentage of qualitative-edge bagruts earned by students—4 or 5 points in English and math, and 5 points in science. The school offers physics, biology, computers, cyber, Israel studies, communications and theater. Electives are given in cooking, ceramics, gym, soccer, guitar and martial arts. There is a unique history and sociology course, certified by the Ministry of Education, focusing on state and society, with an emphasis on the complexities of Israeli society. The boys do a great deal of volunteering with the local community, and the school was one of five schools to win the Ministry of Education’s community volunteerism prize this year.
B’Levav Shalem also won the ministry’s National Education Prize, and makes the list of schools offering the most values-based education annually. Two students were winners of the annual international youth Bible contest and the school boasts a world-winning robotics team (together with the town’s secular high school). The school has a 100% IDF enlistment rate, with most graduates going into the elite units that provide meaningful, challenging service and guarantee strong employment opportunities afterward.
