The Ministry of Education’s list of outstanding schools was published August 19, 2021, and sixteen AMIT schools “made the grade.” The ratings are based on the schools’ academic and values-based achievements. Academic accomplishments examined include bagrut eligibility rates, percentage of excellence on bagrut exams, percentage of eligibility for high level bagrut certificates, and degree of improvement compared to achievements in the previous year. The social values on which schools were rated include enlistment rates in the IDF or national service, dropout prevention, and inclusion of special education students.
Given how closely these academic and values categories align with AMIT’s mission for providing excellence in education in values-based school communities for Israel’s children, it is not surprising that so many AMIT schools topped the Ministry’s list. AMIT is devoted to pedagogical innovation and creates opportunities for students to master 21st century skills through alterative learning methodologies and exposure to real-world professional settings.
The winning AMIT schools are: AMIT Kfar Blatt Petach Tikva, AMIT Kiryat Malachi, Ulpanit AMIT Haifa, AMIT Wasserman Torah, Arts, and Sciences Junior and Senior High School for Girls in Maaleh Adumim, AMIT Bet Ashkelon Junior and Senior High School, AMIT HaOfek Technological High School in Or Akiva, AMIT Eitan Junior and Senior High School for Boys in Maaleh Adumim, AMIT Fred Kahane Technological High School in Ashkelon, AMIT Wasserman Junior and Senior High School in Beer Sheva, AMIT Karmiel Junior and Senior High School, AMIT Ulpanit for Girls in Or Akiva, AMIT Gutwirth Sderot State Junior and Senior High School, AMIT Yud Ashdod Junior and Senior High School, AMIT Technological High School in Ashdod, and Midreshet AMIT Arts and Sciences Junior and Senior High School for Girls in Modiin.
Dr. Amnon Eldar, Director General of the AMIT Network, says that the excellence of teachers during the coronavirus pandemic year deserves special appreciation. “We salute the teachers who despite a challenging year have brought the students outstanding achievements. Along with their caring, dedication, and love of the students, this year AMIT schools have also succeeded in promoting innovative learning and preparing the students for the future world.”
