Dr. Amnon Eldar has been a part of AMIT for 44 years. He started his career at the network as a surrogate couple, with his wife Michal, at AMIT Frisch Beit Hayeled, later becoming the director of the children’s home. He went on to lead AMIT’s Kfar Blatt Youth Village, eventually being named director general of the network in 2003, a position he held for 23 years. Dr. Eldar holds a doctorate in education and has revolutionized AMIT’s approach to education, helping transform the organization into Israel’s leading educational network.

Judith Mannheimer Alter Kallman was born in Piešťany, Czechoslovakia, and experienced the upheaval of World War II as a child. When her parents were deported to Auschwitz, she escaped to Hungary and survived the war in hiding. After liberation, Judith was sent to an orphanage and later placed on the last Kindertransport to England, a journey that saved her life. As a teenager, Judith made aliyah to Israel and became a student at AMIT’s Kfar Batya and Mizrachi Women’s Bet Tzeirot Tel Aviv. She was married at Kfar Batya and then moved to the United States. Judith believes it is critical to share her Holocaust survival story, which she recounts in her memoir, “A Candle in the Heart.” She is a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and currently resides in Greenwich, Connecticut, where she continues to speak about her experiences and their lasting lessons.
