At AMIT Givat Shmuel Jr. and Sr. High School for girls, the junior high students recently participated in an interactive science day led by their science teachers. The students took part in an array of exciting science workshops. In a molecular cooking workshop, they investigated the connection between the laboratory and the kitchen, in a “think out of the box” workshop, they faced physical challenges, and in a cardiac surgery workshop they had a heart surgery simulation of their own, using the hearts of turkeys.
Additionally, ninth graders recently presented research work at science competitions at the Weizmann Institute and in the science competition of the AMIT network, which took place at the AMIT Kfar Batya campus in Raanana. The team impressed the judges with their research on the effect of Ritalin on the heartbeat rate and will be going on to the national competition.
Chanit Fersztand, principal of AMIT Givat Shmuel said, “We believe in helping every student to realize her abilities and in encouraging students to achieve scientific excellence. Many of our students are majoring in biotechnology, chemistry and physics and succeeding”.
