Midreshet AMIT Be’er is a special kind of hesder yeshiva for girls. The students are offered a year of Torah study and community service, while preparing to enter the army for two years, the last six months of which will be spent in another round of community service. Midreshet AMIT Be’er is a new type of educational institution. While the hesder yeshiva for boys (a five-year program combining Torah studies with military service) has existed for decades, the hesder yeshiva for girls is a relatively new program. Midreshet AMIT Be’er is one of only four institutions in the country offering this type of program. What makes this midrasha unique is its emphasis on community service.
Dedication of Midreshet AMIT Be’er Yerucham
Midreshet AMIT Be’er in Yerucham dedicated a new Beit Midrash in December 2017—the new home for the midrasha will be a warm, welcoming place for the students and the Yerucham community. As one student put it, “When you feel at home, you feel a sense of belonging and like you have a voice. That’s how I feel at the Beit Midrash at Midrehset Be’er.”
Another student said, “The Beit Midrash is a second home, a home for my soul—a warm home, for planting roots, forging connections, independent thinking, mutual development and family. It’s a way of life.”
